Innsbruck is the idyllic alpine town and can be reached from Vienna via train in about 4-5 hours.  This is a destination for all seasons but it is world renowned for its ski resorts and is best visited December-April.  Adventure enthusiasts can go hiking, bungee jumping at Europa Bridge, ride the funicular up the Nordkette mountain range and even check out the Innsbruck nightlife.

 Salzburg is one of the must see places in Austria.  This charming city is surrounded by rolling green meadows, historical buildings, Mozart and where the iconic movie Sound of Music was shot.   There are a number of direct trains between Salzburg and Vienna making rail travel one of the best ways to reach it.  Some of the must do's are experiencing a Mozart dinner theatre, soaking in the old world charm of Old Town and taking a stroll in the Mirabell Gardens.

This stunning resort area near Salzburg offers the ultimate Austria experience with shimmering blue lakes (76 in all!), charming villages and luxurious spa towns.  The fairy tale village of Hallstatt is located in this area with its pastel colored houses, underground salt lake and Ice Cave on Dachstein Mountain this area will take your breath away.  The spa town of Bad Ischl and the romantic St Wolfgang are other tourist favorites. The best time to visit this area is September and October.

The city of grand palaces and museums, the home of Opera and Beethoven, Vienna is a city steeped in culture.  The best times to visit are April-May and September-October.  Some of the top things to do are attend a Mozart concert, taste the finest wine, ride the hop on hop off bus and sip the famous Viennese coffee at one of the cozy coffee houses while gazing at the famous Vienna Opera House.

 Sitting on the beautiful Danube River this Southern Austria area is popular amidst wine connoisseurs for some of the best white wines in the world along with beautiful monasteries, castles and fortresses.  The best time to visit is March-June.
